“A rhythm is a pattern of sounds of different lengths.”
The genesis of the idea:
Sparked by a conversation with Guitar Wizards impresario Colin Law, the idea to develop a visual arts aspect to the special featured performance by Marcin Patrzalek at the National School of the Arts, was born. Donated guitars, broken and forgotten guitars, pawn shop guitars – 36 of them – found their way to the NSA. The sculptural aspect of the guitar, the idea of change and transformation – from being soundless and forgotten into being unique, remarkable and desirable instruments again. The shift in energy in these particular guitars and the palpable link between music and visual arts underscore the vision of this project. The final installation in the NSA main school foyer brings creative magic in a new space.
